I am starting a thread here that will show the maintenance this machine will receive over time,  so that one can decide if these helicopters are really rather simple to maintain,  or will my dream that has now come true,  turn into a maintenance nightmare!   I am totally confident that I will join the many others that are all telling me it is a very easy machine to maintain.   I will be posting my initial break in checks,  gearbox oil changes,  and everything I have to do to keep my dream of flying my own helicopter a very pleasant experience........................................  ..................................  Again , time will tell, and this thread will eventually reveal my beliefs that it will take very minimal maintenance,  my definition being less than one hour for each  hour flown,  or moderate maintenance, which I define as one hour for each hour flown,  high maintenance which I would call over one hour maintenance per flight hour,  or god forbid working on it say 2 hours per flight hour.    I will be honest with my maintenance hours posted here, and I feel this thread will show in my case, how involved one must be to keep a Helicycle safely flying.  Of course my neck is stuck out here, and I will be very interested in checking back here after one month, 3 months , its first  year, and each anniversary thereafter,  and see how it went. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div>Hello everyone.  I am new to this forum.  I have been working on a Scorpion helicopter for the past 5 years off and on when I have the funds.  I am finally almost ready to put the blades on and start doing some serious testing of my new designs.  I did extensive modifications to the original 133 frame for the new engine and drivetrain with 1 foot taller and 2 feet wider landing gear with 9 foot skids.  I installed a 2000 EJ-25 engine with a drivetrain similar to the HRH.  I used a differential case out of a Chevrolet truck for the 90 degree gear box and added a gear oil pump and cooler.  I have a shaft driven tail rotor with superior gearbox and the tail boom has been extended an additional 2 feet so I could use longer main and tail blades than the original design.  I machined everything out of 7075 t6 aluminum or 4130 steel including the entire rotor system and gearbox spool.<br />
<br />
I hope to have the helicopter ready to fly next month.  I am going to to start flight training in Houston in October for three weeks.  I hope to have around 30 hours of training before coming back home and test hovering my helicopter.<br />

Here is a video of me doing some testing after installing the rotor system.  If anyone has any comments or questions feel free to let me know.  <br />

<b>Three-axis Torque Motor</b><br />

The three-axis torque motor can be designed as a PM or reluctance spherical motor. It can be used, e.g., in airborne telescopes. This motor has double-sided stator coils, similar to disk motors. There are usually slotless stator coils to reduce torque pulsations. The rotor can rotate 360' around the x-axis, and by only a few degrees in the y- and z-axis.<br />
<br />
Fig. 9.16 shows an example of a three-axis torque motor, designed and tested at the Technical University of Darmstadt. The rotor segments cover a larger angle than the stator segments. The overhang ensures a constant torque production for the range of y- and z-axis movement - 10' for this motor (Fig. 9.16).<br />
<br />
In designs with a complete spherical rotor three stator windings shaped as spherical sections have to envelop the rotor. The three windings correspond to the three spatial axes and are thus aligned perpendicular to each other. These three stator windings can be replaced with just one winding when the spherical rotor and stator have a diameter smaller than the diameter of the sphere, as shown in Fig. 9.16. The stator winding can then be divided into four sections with each section being controlled separately. Depending on the number of the winding sections activated and on the direction of the MMF wave, each of the three torques may be produced. The four inverters supplying the winding sections are shown in Fig. 9.17.<br />
<br />
Owing to the spherical structure, the performance calculation of this type of motor is usually done using the FEM.<br />
